About ChoralExpress
How it all started...
In December 2009, I spent about two hours searching the various Websites of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN) to find choral concert listings for the holiday season. The results of my search were incomplete - and I was frustrated with spending so much time searching across so many different Websites. So I decided to build a Website to provide a single source for choral concert postings. As a result, ChoralExpress was born! Choral organizations are invited to register their choir and post their concert information on the site. All ranges of choirs are welcome: elementary, junior, senior high schools, church choirs, community choirs, amateur choirs and professional choirs.
Tom Hale, the Webmaster for ChoralExpress
From singing solos in elementary school to participating in high school choral concerts, I have been involved in choral music all of my life. I have earned choral degrees from the University of MN, Duluth, and the University of Illinois, Urbana, and conducted choirs in the public schools, and at the college level. Over the years I founded choirs for various purposes, including The Bay Singers, InnerVoice, and The Sacred Voice.
As a composer, I was commissioned by Waldorf College and the American Composers Forum (Faith Partners), and have a number of pieces self-published with Sacred Voice Music Publishing.
I also build and maintain Websites. I have been Webmaster for the American Choral Director's Association of Minnesota and the FMC Endowment Fund since 2004. My own Web development company, New Day Web Design, serves a number of organizations and individuals in the Twin Cities. Later in 2010 I will complete a BS degree in Information Technology through the University of Phoenix (online).
ChoralExpress strikes a perfect blend of my choral music experience and Web development skills. I hope you find this site useful and I welcome your feedback and suggestions as I continue to develop and nurture its growth.
