Choral Arts Ensemble

Choral Arts Ensemble is closing out its 25th Anniversary Season with a Silver Jubilee concert.

The program will begin with the same set of music with which the Rochester Chamber Chorale, the original name of Choral Arts Ensemble, began its inaugural concert in July of 1985: "Ave Maria" by Josquin Des Prez, "O Vos Omnes" by Tomas Luis Victoria and "Os Justi" by Anton Bruckner. Then will follow a salute to the patron saint of music with Benjamin Britton’s "Hymn to St. Cecilia". CAE’s third commission and premiere of the year, "Radiance", was written by Ola Gjeilo, a young Norwegian composer currently living in the United States. His "Prelude" will also be on the program. Mr. Gjeilo will be in attendance for this premiere and will participate in the pre-concert talk with Mr. Culloton.

This concert is also the last opportunity to present audience favorites taken from audience surveys last year. The final set will include high vote-getters such as "Danny Boy" and "Let Me Fly".
